Personal Childhood Web

I have 3 people that really nurtured me and supported me when I was growing up.

1. Martha Anderson: my mother. She is soft spoken, loves God and loves to sing. She influenced me to always do what is right and use discernment in any situation that may come. She supported me in anything that I wanted to do and pushed me when I needed it. She made me feel special in how she treated me and let me know that I could do anything.

2. Damon Anderson: my father. He also loves God and loves to sing. He was always a stickler for the rules when I was growing up. He made sure that I knew right from wrong. He nutured me into becoming an independent person.

3. Aunt Tam- an old family friend- she was so close to me that I called her my Aunt. She always let me know that I was special. She gave me my love for baking and cooking. She taught me how to do those things. We always had so much fun when we were together. She was always there to talk and taught me a few lessons along the way.

To this day, I feel that I always have my mother support in whatever I choose to do. Becasue of my father, I feel that I still am a very independent person. I also still love to bake and cook and I love to do those things with my own children.

A childrens book I love

In working with children that have domestic violence in their lives, I have come across many books that we have read to them to aide in their healing process. One of those books that I really like is called The Invisible String by Patrice Karst. This book talks about the way that we are always connected even though we are not always together. It helps children overcome the fear of being lonely or of separation. It lets them know that people who love each other are connected by this invisible string of love. They may not be able to see it but they can feel it and know that they are always loved no matter where they are.

My favorite quote about children

"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men"

Hi everyone! Ive never blogged before. I am excited to start and I hope that by the end of this course I am really good at it!
I will start out by saying a little about myself. I am a wife and a mother of 2. I met my husband as a freshman at Shippensburg University and we have been together ever since! We had a lovely wedding with our friends and family. We currently have a 5 year old daughter who just started Kindergarten this year. That was an exciting step for us! My son is only 3 and is still in preschool.
We have one cat named Lucky. I am currently working as a child advocate at a Domestic Violence Shelter and I love my job. I love the feeling of helping children in their healing process.
Well, thats all for now! Until next time!
