My Supports

I have numerous factors that support me in my daily environment. First, I have family support. This support is important because it allows me to function on a daily basis. My husband will watch the children when I am at work and he also drives me to work when I need him to.
My mother and my sisters help with my children as well when I need to be away or just to give me a break. Without this support, daily life would be challenging.
I also have supports at work. They are flexible with my schedule and offer to change my hours if I am having trouble at home.

The challenge that I chose to imagine is the challenge to work at a program with special education children.
The supports that I would need to do this are:
- a well educated and prepared staff,
- an appropriate classroom environment,
- an appropriately planned curriculum.

The benefits of these supports would allow me a well rounded and prepared staff with all of the necessary tools to function appropriately and professionally in a special needs classroom. Without these supports, it would be very difficult for me. I would feel as though I am left to my own devices without any help. I would feel nervous, frustrated and uneasy about my position. I would not be able to do my job with 100% proficiency and effectiveness.
